To provide a high quality and innovative instructional setting that ensures all students are prepared for today’s globally competitive environment.
Major responsibilities of the department include:
- Maintain and revise the Pre-K–12 curriculum to ensure alignment with North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study, including Common Core Standards and the North Carolina Essential Standards in the following areas:
- Career and Technical Education
- Fine Arts
- Health and Physical Education
- English, History/Social Studies, and Foreign Language (Humanities)
- Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC)
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
- Provide direct support for instructional services that meet the needs of students through:
- Advanced Studies
- Pre-Kindergarten Programs
- Remedial Education
- Response to Instruction and Intervention
- Virtual Learning
- Support the design and delivery of customized learning experiences for students through:
- Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
- North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS)
- Provide direct support for schools to facilitate effective implementation of Davidson County Schools' K-12 curriculum alignment 2.0
- Provide a framework for continuous achievement
- Create and deliver professional learning that ensures fidelity of curriculum and research-based instructional strategies application across all schools
