My name is Melanie Rowe and I am the reading specialist at Silver Valley Elementary.  I received my degree in elementary education from Appalachian State University and later added a reading certification.  I began my teaching career as a kindergarten teacher at Welcome.  After 16 years in the classroom, I became a reading specialist at Hasty.  I have now been a reading specialist at Silver Valley for the past 10 years.  I love working with my students on reading decoding and comprehension skills.
