Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Silver Valley Elementary School
About Me:
I grew up in the Silver Valley area and currently live in Lexington. I attended UNC Charlotte and graduated in 2012, go Niners! My family and I love traveling and both salt water and fresh water fishing. I also enjoy reading and history.
Education:
My current teaching license are Birth-9th grade. I have taught at the NC Pre-K level, elementary level, and middle school level.
Classroom
ELA
This year we will use a curriculum that was developed by teachers in the school system. These units will focus on our reading standards for fiction and non-fiction, as well as writing, cursive, and Letterland. Students will need 1 folder and 1 composition book.
Math
This year students will build on previous learned skills and extend their learning to numbers into the thousands place. We will also learn multiplication which is a HUGE part of our math concepts this year and in grades after 3rd grade. We will utilize Boddle, Freckle, iReady Prodigy, Google Classroom, and a few other websites in the classroom this year. Students will need 1 folder and 1 composition book.
Social Studies and Science
We will integrate science and social studies standards into our ela and math lessons. Topics to cover are citizenship, civics and government, geography, economics, force and motion, solar system, the environment, and matter.

3rd grade is a transitional year for students. This year, students will begin taking End of Grade tests or EOG. Students will take check-ins throughout the year to help prepare them for these end of year tests.
